It’s a Server Cluster Update!
Well Explorers, it hasn’t been the week we planned to have, to say the least. Things took a turn when we realized that our existing infrastructure needed to be totally rethought and rearchitected in order to support the game properly. Don’t get me wrong, we knew we needed to do it, but we thought we’d make it to January or February before we needed to overhaul the whole thing. All that to say, the time has come.
👷 Development Update 👷
As I alluded, the Space Tokens infrastructure is under construction — not a light facelift or slight remodel, but a major overhaul. We are moving from 2 servers to 8 (😱) and ensuring the whole thing is in a High Availability Cluster in Kubernetes. It’s been a grind and there’s still a bit to go. While we’re super excited about the upgrade, the tradeoff is that between taking on making our own wallet and the infrastructure upgrade we won’t be able to launch Land and its associated bits until January 😭. The scope creep is real. I know, we’re gutted too, but we all are committed to putting out a quality product with longevity. We are not a flash in the pan project, we are in it for the long haul. That being said, the pedal will remain to the metal so we can get this thing out ASAP.
Front end dev is making some good strides, the game scaffolding and expedition bits are coming together nicely and the overall design is looking slickkkkkkk 😎
In light of the change to the timeline we are setting a stretch goal of having the game in Testnet by the end of the year; with 2 weeks left in the year, it will be tight for sure but we’re sure going to give’r.
